Fuel Storage Tank Decommissioning

Fuel Storage Tank Decommissioning

Client: Dormobile Ltd
Project: Lyndhurst, Hampshire

Brief Description:

KpH were awarded the project to clean and degas 1no 16,5000ltr, 2no 9,300ltr, 1no 7,200ltr and 3no. 2,500ltr tanks for a new client, Dormobile Ltd.

Scope of Works:

A detailed health and safety file was put together to maintain a safe working environment and enable the team to safely access and clean the tanks.

With all permits and controls in place the KpH team set about removing the lids on the tanks, some of these were difficult due to the chambers being small.

Due to a high water table and poor condition of the chambers there was a lot of water seeping back into the tanks. The tanks were emptied cleaned and degassed via a vacuum tanker with all residual product and washings removed from site to a licensed facility.

The tanks were fully decommissioned using BritFoam, a resin based hardfoam, including the chambers.

The final step of this project was to breakout the pump island and reinstate with a concrete finish.

The project was carried out to programme  and left in a clean and tidy environment for future reuse.
