Tank Compliance

Client: Glaxo Smithkine
Manager: SDC Special Projects
Project: Fuel Installation Upgrade and Renewal
Brief Description

This project for global pharmaceutical manufacturers GSK involved the renewal and upgrading of various non compliant elements of their fuel storage facility. An under ground single skinned steel pipe line with below ground joints required removal and replacing with compliant pipework.

Scope of Works

The existing pipe work was disconnected, drained, flushed through and a trench excavated to allow for its removal. The upgrade specification was of the highest standard and the new oil supply line was installed using UPP (Universal Petro Pipe), a pipe in pipe flexible, non-metallic system used on petroleum forecourts, with all joints requiring electro fusion welding by specially trained KpH technicians.

A second installation required the repositioning and renewal of the fill point cabinet and the tanks gauging system, a “Landon Kingsway” fill point and gauging system was specified and installed. Works were completed to the satisfaction of the client leaving them with a fully compliant fuel supply system that meets PPG2 oil storage regulations.
