Remediation Works

Client: CBRE
Project: Remediation Works
Location: The Base, Dartford, Kent
Brief Description

KpH were engaged by our client CBRE following the building completion of their new business centre. It was discovered that imported earth used for landscaping purposes was in fact contaminated and required removal and disposal from site.

Scope of Works

The scope of works required us to excavate 200m2 of soil, foliage etc and remove from site following which BS standard top certificated top soil was imported from Bury St Edmunds and lain on site.

Excavation was undertaken using an 8T excavator and all waste was removed from site and transported to a licensed waste transfer facility to be disposed of as contaminated waste.

Asbestos Air Monitoring was undertaken by a third party as part of our contract works. This took place at various intervals to ensure that asbestos fibres were not being released into the atmosphere.

Works were complicated by site logistics. Existing live services were present whilst excavation took place and with limited site access to the contaminated area a grab lorry was positioned along the site boundary with permission of the land lord.

All works were undertaken within a tight programme and completed to the satisfaction of our client and the surrounding tenants.
