Client: Adkins Consultants
Cobham Road, Fetcham

Brief Description:

We were recently awarded the contract to decommission 6no. Tanks—2no. 15,4000ltrs,3no. 8810ltrs and 1no. 6610ltrs by new client Adkins Consultants.

The site was on a busy road within a built up area so the team had to be considerate with noisy works and vehicles in and out of site.

Scope of Works

  • On commencement of works the KpH site supervisor liaised with the site manager and relevant sub contractors to confirm the intended operations
  • A suitable work area was cordoned off and warning signs displayed
  • The tanks were cold cut open on three sides and with the use of the onsite excavator folded back to allow unobstructed ease of access to tanks ready to remove the RG22 foam
  • The onsite machine operator set to work removing the RG22 foam from within the tanks and loaded it directly into 40yard skips which were then transported to a licensed facility with the disposal paperwork handed over to the client
  • KpH then issued a gas free certificate so the excavation of the tanks could take place.
  • The tanks were excavated by the onsite machine operator ready for KpH to hot cut them into large sections
  • The machine operator flat packed the sections and placed them into the skip for disposal
